One of my favorite practices for self-care is iRest, also known as INTEGRATIVE RESTORATION. Integrative Restoration is a meditative practice that Richard Miller, Ph.D., derived from the ancient teachings of Yoga Nidra. Integrative Restoration assists us to live contented lives, free of conflict, anxiety, fear and suffering. This is accomplished through the embodiment of pure awareness and the release of negative body sensations, emotions, beliefs and stress that give rise to self-destructive patterns.

It is a non-dogmatic, non-religious secular practice that can support abiding in nondual awareness. People often find that it easily helps them to enter profound states of meditation.
Preliminary research shows Integrative Restoration to be very helpful in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in soldiers who have been injured in Iraq. We have been offering it in one of the homeless shelters I manage and the class members often report immediate relief from stress, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. I have had advanced training in Integrative Restoration, and enjoy offering it to individuals and to groups. Here are free sample sessions.
